The League of Nations and collective security: Reactions to Munich and the Winter War

The bachelor thesis deals with the reaction of the League of Nations to the key events of Czechoslovak and Finnish history, Munich and the Winter War. The thesis examines the events from the perspective of the League of Nations in order to determine what factors influenced the League response, taking into account the form of the Pact itself and the wording of the individual articles dealing with collective security. The thesis offers insights into the formation of the League of Nations itself, the resulting form of the Pact, and the most important interwar initiatives for the peaceful settlement of disputes. The main focus of the thesis is to examine the response of the League of Nations to Munich and the Winter War, with each of the chapters devoted to a given issue presenting the situation in which the League of Nations found itself in a given year (spring-summer 1938, autumn 1939), as well as focusing on the factors that influenced the operation of this peace-keeping international organization and affected its response to the events under examination. European diplomacy and attempts at a cease of Polish-Lithuanian dispute

This work is focusing on attempts of the European diplomacy to cease Polish - Lithuanian dispute. By using the scholar literature, it describes realities of the first years after first world war and the renewal of independency of both states. Following is the Vilnius question which is the most important theme of the work. By describing the context and situation in the region, it analysis possible reasons of why the attempts failed. Work also contains the final state of the dispute and how it affected the future of Polish - Lithuanian relations.

Profile, work and theory of Jesús Baigorri Jalón

The central focus of this Master's thesis was to provide a concise overview of the academic work of the contemporary Spanish interpreter and interpreting historian, Jesús Baigorri Jalón. We carried out an in-depth analysis of his work, accompanied by the critical reception of his two key publications. In the introductory part of our thesis, we focused on the author's methodology and placement in Spanish and Czech academic contexts. Then, we elaborated a comprehensive, chronological overview of the author's two main monographs and outlined the main topics discussed in Baigorri's studies. We also focused on the author's contribution to the translation and interpreting studies, his research methodology and its potential to serve as an inspiration to Czech researchers.

The history and conception of collective security under the League of Nations

Master thesis is dealing with the topic of Collective security during the time following World war the first, during the time of League of Nations duration. Except the introduction and conclusion Thesis is divided into five sections. First section is dealing with the issue of Collective security. In order to conduct deeper analysis, term is divided into two parts - Security and Collectiveness. Concept of Security is analysed further when four different aspects are identified. Collectiveness is also examined in order to define its meaning. First part also includes distinction between Collective security and Collective self-defence. Despite their different meanings these two terms are often interchanged. Second part deals with the events preceding the creation of League of Nations. Especially the Paris peace conference. Since it laid down the foundations for the new International organization and its prime document, the Covenant. Second part is also dealing with the demands of the victorious powers on a concept of Collective security. Since the victors did not share single opinion on how to organise new international organisation, the Covenant of League of Nations and its legal mechanisms are result of a diplomatic compromise. Child marriage in the context of international rights of the child

The bachelor's thesis deals with the child marriages that occur mainly in the developing countries and their various causes and consequences. During such ceremonies is one or both of the betrothed is less than 18 years old. This work is divided into three chapters and its aim is to answer the question of whether or not children's weddings ultimately violate international standards to protect the rights of the child or not. The theoretical part provides the most important international declarations and conventions containing the rights of the child, published in the 20th century. The second chapter is devoted directly to discussing marriages of children; contained therein is their definition, and then further clarification of where they occur and what leads parents or guardians of children to marry them. The third chapter deals with the analysis of violations of international standards to protect the rights of the child, either directly or in connection with the impacts of weddings of teenagers on their lives.

International position of Czechoslovakia in the period of so called 1st republic

The thesis is concerned with the international position of Czechoslovakia between the years 1918 and 1938. Its aim is to explore possibilities and chances of a small state to survive and to prosper. The thesis analyses Czechoslovak journey to independence during the World War I, its activities at the Parisian Peace Conference, its performance in the League of Nations, development of mutual relations with powers and succesion states of former Austria-Hungaria and foundation of Petite entente. The thesis also pays attention to events that preceded signing of the Munich Agreement in September 1938 and tries to answer the question if it had been possible to prevent it and if there were any other ways how to react.
